My name is Katie Merkurjev.

I was born  in Russia, Saint Petersburg. I have blond, long hair and gray eyes. I'm 11 years old. I have a twin sister and her name is Daria. Now, I go to Mar Vista Elementary School to 5th grade. My teacher is Ms. Sacks. She is really good in teaching and tells us many things that we did not know before.  We are also learning music from Mrs. Holl. Some days ago our school did Nutcracker and sang many songs. We play recorder with Mrs. Holl too. Ms. Sacks' father, Mr. Sheldon, is teaching us P.E.  He is a nice teacher. We are making many competitions with him. My favorite subject in school is math because my father is sometimes teaches me algebra. I also love math because I'm pretty good at it and for me math is interesting. I love to solve word problems and to add, subtract,  multiple, and divide fractions. At home, I love to read and help my mother with cooking. Outside, I like to  run and play tennis. Our family likes to go hiking and we like to go to adventures on the  weekends. I was born in Russia, Saint Petersburg. Our family lived in a big house with 9 levels. After 6 years in 1993 our family went to Louvain- la- Neave, Belgium because my father had a job there. After a year, in 1994 we went to Tel- Aviv and Jerusalem, Israel. Our family explored this land with our friends that lived there. Then, in 1994 we went to Lausanne, Geneva, Zurich, Bern and Lucerne in Switzerland. Our family spent a year there. We also visited Holland, Hungary, and Austria. In 1995, we went to back to month'. Still, in 1995 our family went to Russia for some month. In 1996, we went to  Paris, France to meet there with our friend. In 1996, our family went to Biellifeld, Germany and we spent a year there. At summer of 1997 Daria, my mother, and I went to Turkey and by the end of 1997 summer, we went to America.

My father was born in Leningrad, Russia. He is 43 years now. Alexander has gray eyes, the same color that I do. He has a younger brother that now lives in Russia with his wife Lena and daughter Tatiana and brother Alexander.      My father is a professor and he works at UCLA. My fathers favorite hobby is to play chess and to write some mathematical problems. My fathers favorite sport is basketball because he is good at it.

My mother was born on May.  She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was the only child in her family. Her father was a soldier in the World War II. He is still living and is 83 years old now.       My mother is a housewife she does not work now, but she used to work as a programmer. My mother's favorite hobby is to work on the computer. Her favorite sport ice-skating. She even used to take ice-skating lessons when she  was young.

My sister (in UCLA) Sea World, San Diego, 98 Pasadena, 99     My sister Daria was born on December. Her name in Russia means " the gift of nature". Daria has gray eyes and blonde hair. Daria's favorite sport is swimming because she likes to dive deep in the  water. She loves to cool her body with fresh water. Daria's second favorite sport is ice-scating. Daria likes it because she likes to see how  beatiful the ice- scators glide through  the   ice. Daria wants to be a teacher, when she grows up. "  I love to spend time with kids ".- she says.
